Who Can Vote - Who Can Be On The Board - Filling Vacancies

Who Can Vote - Annual or Special Meeting of the Township:
- US Citizen
- At least 18 years old
- Has resided in the township for at least the last 30 days
- Anyone who meets those three requirements can make motions, second, and vote on any issue
- Others, such as non-resident landowners, may attend, but only qualified resident electors vote
Who Can Vote - Meeting of the Board of Supervisors:
- The Supervisors - others may attend, but only Supervisors Vote
Who Can Be On The Board:
- US Citizen
- At least 18 years old
- Has resided in the township for at least the last 30 days
- Anyone who meets those three requirements can be a Supervisor, Clerk, or Treasurer
- Assessors may be elected or appointed and may be non-residents but must be certified by the ND Tax Commissioner within two years
Clerk & Treasurer
- Clerk and Treasurer may be combined, but the individual is only entitled to one wage
- A Deputy Clerk may be appointed who may be a non-resident, but a qualified resident must be the Clerk of record
- The Deputy Clerk might do most or all the work; however, the resident Clerk must sign the reports.
Vacancy on the Board.
- A vacancy results from death, resignation, disqualification, or removal from office.
- Moving out of the township is a disqualification.
