Alvin A. Jaeger served as the 14th Secretary of State of North Dakota from 1993 to 2023. Jaeger was first elected to the office in 1992 and then re-elected in 1996, 2000, 2004, 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2018. He chose not to run in 2022.
Throughout his terms as Secretary of State, Al was always supportive of township government. He was always concerned with the integrity of the election process; to ensure decisions with valid results. Al and his office were of great help when for the first time a recall election was called in a ND Township. That help continued as we sought an amendment to the recall laws that would actually work in townships.
In recognition of his longstanding support of Grassroots Government, he was awarded the President’s Award and declared to be an Honorary Township Officer
