Township Federal Employment Tax Responsibilities

In 2003, two IRS personnel gave a presentation at the NDTOA convention and joined the NDTOA Workshop Tour in February of 2004. They explained that government officials, INCLUDING TOWNSHIP OFFICERS, are employees and their compensation is wages and is subject to withholding laws. They also provided this article that ran in the January 2004 Grassroots Report. Please note the IRS personnel mentioned in this article are no longer with the IRS, but the law and the ruling of the US Supreme Court still stand.
